Presentation is everything. For your model train sets, color scheme is as important as adding scenery and backdrop to your railroad set. You'd want cool, colorful signs onto everything that makes up your scenery to make the ensemble feel and look real. As more and more people get into the hobby, you're bound to find thousands of designs and ways to create you own layouts and these ways include both expensive means and the inexpensive ones. Here are some suggestions to add color and life to your model train sets:
1.Keep your color scheme realistic. Check your materials against the colors of the real thing they're modeled after. You want your model to look as close to the original as possible.
2.Use reproduction sign for your model stores and other signage. You can browse online for metal reproduction of old movie signs if you have a movie theater in your set. There are plenty of nostalgia sites that you can download images from. This would greatly enhance the feel of your presentation.
3.When printing images, use a high-quality color printer. You don't want your pictures to rub off or smudge when you glue them on to your model stores or widows. You can get quality prints from your local photo shop. It's actually cheaper most of the time.
4.Cut out movie posters and advertising pages from old magazines and catalogs to use in your model train sets. That literally costs you nothing. If you use them right, no one will ever know your cool Coke logo is a cut-out off an old advertising page.
